Why Beekeeping…

You might be wondering, why honey bees? In the beginning, I asked that too! I didn’t know anything about them, and I certainly knew nothing about how to begin beekeeping. Frankly, I was slightly scared of being stung. But the real question is, WHY NOT?

Must Haves…

We truly had no idea where to start. We know there are millions just like ourselves out there. More and more people are leaning towards this type of lifestyle and we promise to share all the things we find absolutely essential right here.

Queen Bee

Queen

The queen bee is the matriarch of the colony. She is responsible for laying eggs and maintaining the population. She releases pheromones that regulate the behavior and development of other bees in the hive. The hive would die without her.

Worker Bee

Worker

Worker bees are sterile females that perform various tasks within the hive. They are responsible for foraging for nectar and pollen, caring for the brood (larvae and pupae), building and maintaining the hive structure, and guarding the hive entrance.

Drone

Drones are male bees whose primary role is to mate with virgin queens from other colonies. They do not forage for food or participate in hive maintenance tasks. Instead, they wait in drone congregation areas until the time is right for potential mating.
